Two in-house projects from my time on Eventbrite’s product design team.
Event discovery sits at the core of the Eventbrite experience, yet the search flow had evolved into a largely utilitarian tool rather than an engaging entry point to exploration.

This project explores a new approach to event discovery through a reimagined search pattern, one that simplifies the existing experience while using motion and interaction to create a more engaging sense of discovery.
The original search flow
The previous search experience was text-heavy and unpersonalized, with minimal emotional feedback during browsing and a filtering process that felt long and cumbersome.
Design goal
Shift search from querying a database to an experience that invites exploration and delight.
Solution 1
A three-point
search model
Breaking the search bar into three distinct entry points clarified location and date selection, simplified filtering, and created space for a more ambitious experience design.
Solution 2
Turning discovery into a visually rich experience
Previously, users explored trending search terms. The new experience shifts focus to actually viewing trending events, using a dynamic carousel to make discovery feel immersive.
Solution 3
Surface suggested events with playful interactions
Given Eventbrite’s rich marketplace data, the lack of personalized event suggestions felt like a missed opportunity. Allowing users to swipe through event cards provides new surfaces for personalized suggestions and a playful way to explore it.
